Positive: MOOZ Lodge is a simple apartment situated off the main road above a carport with two bedrooms, a kitchen area and veranda. The bath is at the foot of the stairs leading down to the passage that goes to the carport. The apartment is locked and safe. The bedrooms can be closed off from each other and the kitchen. In fact, the kitchen seems almost part of the veranda, open to the fresh Polynesian air. The view is a direct view of one of the taller peaks on Moorea. The owners live in the rear of the carport, made us feel right at home and helped us immensely with several difficulties. We enjoyed our entire stay with them. Tapu is a local guide and can set up tours of the island and lagoon on the asking. The veranda is set up for lounging with umbrellas for sunshade. MOOZ lodge is located just south of the town of Afareaitu. A local magasin and the Jardin de Corail (also called the Lagoonarium) are in walking distance. We spent a day snorkelling at Motu Ahi and it was well worth the cost of the boat ride over. The Sofitel beach complex is north along the road past the ferry towards the airport, which is a very enjoyable place to spend a day.

Negative: Except for the Jardin, we did not find a beach close by or find it easy to snorkel. One really does need a car or scooter on Moorea, since the buses are no longer running.

Summary: Comfortable place to stay, and welcoming place to stay.
